Thunderhead

Batch 5

A storm cell in vase form: powder-blue cumulus billowing up the belly, stacked and backlit against deep navy, with the flared neck opening like the anvil top of a front about to break. The clouds drift as you turn it — building on one side, clearing on the other — and the rim keeps a speckled band of stratosphere. Inside, bare cream clay: the calm, apparently, is stored in the middle. Add stems if you like your storms decorated.
