Deep denim blue spun out in wide, easy spirals, glossy as a lake at noon — and then, straight through the middle, the crack. It runs clean to the bare speckled underside, a small geological event recorded in a dinner plate, and the first one ever to open up on this wheel. Plates, it must be said, have long been the adversary here: flat, wide, deceptively simple, quietly biding their time. This one finally got its moment.
