Once in a Blue Mug

Batch 2

Summer-sky blue brushed over warm sand in long, easy strokes — like someone sponged the sky onto a beach and fired it before it could drift off. One indigo comet streaks the side; inside, blue circles down to the bottom with gold breaking through the rings. The potter maintains no vessel has ever sat so perfectly in the hand, and that it cannot be done twice. Lightning, it turns out, fits in a kiln exactly once.
