For the Record
Deep royal blue laid down in glossy sweeps, and right at the centre the wheel left a tight coil of rings — the run-out groove of a record pressed in clay. Tilt it and the light slides across the surface like a needle finding its track. Underneath, honest speckled cream with one broad band of blue brushed around the rim. Pressed in the second firing, back when plates still behaved themselves — for the record, this one spun true.
