Verdigris
A vase that looks excavated rather than thrown: soft sea-green patina creeping over ribbed walls, freckled with rust as though the clay remembers being metal. Throwing rings circle the belly like hammer marks worked into old copper, and down near the foot a seam of true turquoise breaks through — the colour bronze turns after a century of weather. Inside, the green pools deeper and glossier still. Fresh out of the kiln, and already an antique.
