Turncoat

Batch 5

The orders were clear: be green. The glaze read the orders, considered them carefully, and fired itself a brilliant lagoon turquoise instead — sunlit sand glowing through the thin patches, a wavy tide-line of drips lapping just under the rim, and not one square inch of the assigned colour anywhere on the premises. No explanation has been offered. None is expected. The potter has filed the incident under "no idea what happened", where it joins a growing and much-loved folder.
