Rainmaker

Batch 5

A jug that wears the weather it pours: storm-grey glaze streaked with rain running from the collar, dark clouds pooling at the shoulder, and a bare-clay hem where the front finally passes. The belly sits wide and low like a water tank in good season, the half-lid pulls down snug, and the spout leans into its work. The potter loves the shape, the colours, and the size — in that order, on some days, and in a different order on others. Pour it and you'll hear the drought break.
