Full Bloom

Batch 5

Two kilograms of clay, opened like a flower. A deep navy rim holds the garden wall, and inside, petals of cream and sage unfurl ring after ring around a blue-gold pool at the heart — a bloom caught mid-opening and fired that way, forever a moment from full. The colours shift as the light crosses them, and the potter maintains no photograph has ever done them justice. On this one point, the potter is correct. Bring fruit, or don't; it has never needed the excuse.
